Twisted Mix-Tape Tuesday: Time for Spooky

So there you are ... so secure in your little home.  You've got your computer, your TV, your stereo, and once in a while, you even cook something decent to eat.

Sure, you've got the typical worries that most people do these days (bills, car repairs, food costs), but overall, you think life will get better if you give it time, don't you?

What if you don't have time?

Don't you know ...
everything dies?

You're not as secure as you think you are.  Remember the late summer night when you had the windows open?  Remember lounging in your nightie as the breeze blew across the room?  Remember when you thought you smelled a man's cologne?

I had made a mistake and not showered that evening.  Remnants of the day's leftover scent of my Obsession were stronger than I thought.  I watched as you seemed to sniff the air, and then shake your head as if it wasn't there.  That could have been your worst mistake.

I've been watching your daily routine for months now.  I know what you buy at the grocery store and when you go there.  I love the black workout tights you wear three days a week to the gym.  Your boyfriend is a wimp and your little tan dog a joke.  You need a real man to make you feel like a real woman.  To use you up.  To drive you crazy with delight.  To take you without mercy!

My wish and your nightmare, combined to satisfy my wants and needs.
You went to the mall yesterday.  I was so close to you as you paused to window shop that I could smell your shampoo.  Herbal Essence, isn't it?  I thought you caught a glimpse of me in the window's reflections.  You turned, but I had already distanced myself from you.  Still, you knew something was amiss, didn't you?

You kept turning your head, as if you knew someone was watching.
It won't be long before we get together.  I know how you like to take that dog out to the park every third Sunday of the month.  You usually go alone, don't you?  You usually stop off at the Quik Mart and get some munchies, and then make an afternoon of it, don't you?  Sometimes, you even sit on the river bank and gaze into the water for 30 or 40 minutes.  I wish I knew what you were thinking.  I'll bet you're just wishing someone would come and end your boring existence, aren't you?

Remove you from this life right there at the water's edge.
I've got my plans and there's nothing you can do to stop them.  Only I control the day and the time.  You're simply a toy that I can choose to ignore, play with, or destroy.  Don't get too secure in your world of make believe.  Mine is the only reality that counts.  It may be soon, or it may stretch out and not occur until next year.  Whenever I decide is up to me.  Until then ...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

  1. Yes! Rockwell! haha That always scared the crap out of me. That pigface thing that looked like it came out of Twilight Zone. And Metallica. Scary!

    1. Linda - Thanks for stopping in. Rockwell's song always hit me as a paranoid freak, until I started thinking, "What if it was really happening?" Then, I became a paranoid freak! lol The pigface emicon reminded me of the pig friend ghost named "Jody" of the youngest daughter in the Amityville Horror. I couldn't pass on it. "Water's Edge" got me when it came out in the 90's, and still does to this day. It could really be happening ... that's the bad stuff. Many Thanks!

    1. Kerri - LMAO !!!!!! Sorry! Just had to pull a Halloween stunt on you all. I've been kicking around writing a short story from this point of view to warn the naive. It just seemed to fit in tonight! Glad you enjoyed! By the way, your bedroom curtains are open! muhahahahahaha! Many Thanks!

    4. Lynne - Really good of you to visit! Glad you enjoyed the tale. Just a little something ai did in about twenty-five minutes (finding the videos was the worst part, lol) Keep on working on your story and never give up. Who knows where it may lead you? Many Thanks!

  3. You just played right into one of my favorite subjects: the psychology of serial killers that involves the selecting, stalking and waiting for the "right" time to engage their victims. I don't know what I loved more, the post or the soundtrack!! Great job!

    1. Dream - I was afraid the music would be fairly common for most, so I decided to add the story to spice things up a little. I had to make it personal to achieve what I wanted. When I saw Kerri's comment above, I knew that I'd succeeded. lol Glad you enjoyed this effort. Many Thanks!

    1. Slu - Good to see you here! The story just seemed to flow after it started. Was almost scary writing it, but I needed to keep it going to segue into the songs properly. I knew I wanted to end with "Water's Edge", and it was a hell of a task getting there. lol Happy you liked it! Many Thanks!

    1. Lance - Thanks for stopping in! I was particularly fond of the Seven Mary Three, myself. That has been one of those songs that you wonder why you love it, but have, ever since it came out. I thought it overshadowed Cumbersome without a doubt. And, it did work out well for an ending.

Happy Halloween in return, my friend! Many Thanks!

  6. I love the storyline you crafted. I'm glad it's the middle of the day and all the lights are on when I'm reading this.

    1. Cyn - So good to meet you! I searched your blog for a name, but could only find your pseudonym. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Reading it in the daylight might make it a little easier to swallow. Then again, reading it again in the dark might just create the creeps it was meant to! lol Thanks so much for stopping by!

  8. Shit, sorry about that. I had a comment all typed out and the stupid profile thingy jammed! Back to commenting:
I'd totally forgotten about Type O, great pick!
And Seven Mary Three! I loved that album, talk about falling off the face of the earth.
Finally, any song about a stalker equals creep fest!

    1. Melissa - See, with a couple of button taps it's like magic and disappeared! lol Good to see you again. I was going to use Black No. 1 from Type O Negative, but this one seemed to fit the story better. Seven Mary Three actually did a few more cd's, but none hit with the strength of this one. There last had a bright orange cover which seemed completely out of place for them Glad you enjoyed!

  9. AIiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You're far, far scarier than any of the songs! I really like how you did this, but I'm now going to sleep with the whip and keep it handy all the time, just in case!

    1. Lizzi - Beautiful scream, my dear! Shame no one can hear it down here, isn't it! lol I figured what better way to get attention than to do it this way. Kind of a "Trick" on all the Halloweeners, you know? It was really easy to get into the character mode to write it (which may be a little scary), but I wanted it to hit hard and sinister until I relieved the tension at the end with the pig / demon smiley face! lol Really happy you liked it. Many Thanks!

  10. Dude, you are so twisted! That was awesome! Did it take all week or did it just come to you. Please say it took you forever and it wasn't just waiting there to be released ;-) Amazing.

    1. Jen - Hello Queen of the Hop! lol I thought I'd give everyone a little something to think about today in keeping with the theme. Okay, here's the scary part, the writing only took about twenty-five minutes. I've actually been thinking about how to do something like this on my blog which is more known for comedy. This gave me the perfect opportunity to see if I could get into people's minds a little and shrink their comfort zone some. :) The hardest part was finding the music to go along with it. Glad you liked it! Many Thanks!

  11. my daughter walked by spotted the side boob pic as i scrolled down to the comment box, she asked "is that someone's butt?" maybe, i told her, it's my go to answer when i don't really want to answer at all!

totally twisted post for us today! definitely going to ditch the routine, gotta keep the stalkers guessing. and thank heavens we never open the windows around here!

    1. Misty - OMG, you've just given me a reason to remove the Side boob award! I've thought about doing so for a while now, but since it was awarded to me by Lizzi, I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Now, I can say that it's not conducive to the family status this blog is known for! (Like this blog was ever known for that, lol). Sorry to put you into the position in which you found yourself. Glad you enjoyed the post! Every once in a while, I've got to let the creativity flow and do something different. Many Thanks!

  12. Ah! You'd get along well with my husband - he's the Metallica fan over here. As for me - I always liked the Rockwell song. And as for the whole stalker bit? .... making passing reference to my post - if you are channeling Edward here, I'll be playing the role of Buffy, not Bella ;) Stalking may result in staking. Just sayin' Happy Halloween!

    1. Louise - Good to see you! I liked Metallica until they started their crusade against sharing. They're millionaires and have a hard time with people sharing their music. Talk about being greedy beyond belief. lol I read your post earlier but couldn't comment via I-Phone. You're vampire obsessed, to say the least, but I loved it! Happy Halloween to you and your family, too! Many Thanks!
