Guilty As Charged!

I've been a bad boy!
For the few of you that emailed me and asked if I was "okay" this week, I answer you now,  "Yes, I've been very busy, but I am doing fine."

In the kingdom of Blogdom, one might even say, "I've been a bad boy!"

Yes, I'm guilty!  I admit it!  I took a week off!

I only assisted Gabriela last Sunday to get her Monday post out (which, by the way, will probably be her last), and I took a week to concentrate on business (real life stuff).

I didn't write and I didn't read.  I'm a terrible person and will be damned forever because of this.

Actually, I can think of many more reasons why that might happen besides this one, but it sounds good here, "So what the hell?"

There are times in a person's life that they need to step back and observe.  Not just the world around them, but the internal and external world they're forcing themselves to reside within.

You may ask, "OMG, is Rich starting to get into a deep conversation or just spouting superfluous crap?"

I know what you'd expect from me.  But, what if I did get serious and philosophical?  Would it shock you?

If it did occur, would all the bloggers in Blogdom find themselves in lost in a lost world without toilet tissue in time of need?   Or, would this just become another blog that is read by some, scanned by others, and ignored by many?

Probably just ignored by many.

Still, shouldn't we ask ourselves, "Is what I'm blogging relevant to anything, or is it just putting words down on the screen to fill an obligation to those that have chosen to follow?"

Does it really matter?

However, if irrelevant, does the reader recognize the El Toro defecation it's meant to be, or, are they lingering on every world, analyzing and envisioning this creature of the absurd to be real?

I know ... you’re beginning to consider to scan by now.

Is this blog one of an imaginary intellectual being that has created an imaginary world through dictionary and Thesaurus search and selection?

And, how many synonyms to "bullshit" actually do exist?

Why do we write?   Is entertainment, instructional, or drama the culprit that sends us down the stairwell of words into the guise of one who determines the life and death of their own  creation?  In other words, if we make a decision to begin something, isn’t it also allowable to change one’s mind in mid-stream and go another direction?  Or, would that be to much of a shock for the reader, whose expectations rely on common routes of travel?

"Let's see ... go up six blocks, take a right at the bakery, go another four blocks ..."

When does the character start or stop being reality?  Does the role we accept in Blogdom affect us in our daily lives?  Is there an obligation to always look at life in a certain manner in order to come up with the next installment?  When does Harry Potter stop becoming Harry Potter?  Must we perform in the nude to shed the image?

For most of us, let's hope not.
I, too, have a mirror!

But, if the role does affect us in our daily activities, are we losing out on observing what is really happening by limiting our field of vision?  When do we acknowledge we have blinders on? And, when does the need to shed them in order for deeper growth to continue take place?  Or, are we seeing the world as it truly is, unlike others that run through life so self absorbed that they fail to notice the ironies and false facades of those that govern, pretend to care, and pick their noses in private at those that offer support?

Of course, picking one's nose is justifiable in private, but not in public,
or in a moving vehicle, regardless of how invisible you really think you are.
So is burping, releasing gas, and peeing in the shower,
as long as you don't tell people about it.

So, I have supplied your head with questions that only you can answer.  Take your time.  It isn’t something that has to be done immediately.  In fact, if I were you, I would first ask myself, “Do any of these really apply to me?”

If so, then you must decide on a course of action to lead you to the answer your heart desires to uncover.

If they don’t apply, then, don’t bother with them.  Just sit back, relax, and admit to yourself that this was sincerely one hell of a way to get your mind off the fact that I haven’t blogged or visited blogs in a week.

My apologies.

Guilty as charged.

Would it help if I said, “I’m sorry?”

Oh well, I tried.

    1. Audra - Really good to see you here! Glad you found my blog as I'm sure you've seen I have left HP's pretty much for good. It was a lot of stuff to basically say, "Oops, I had to take a week off!" lol Nice to have you with me again! Many Thanks!

  2. Oh I missed you, but totally figured you were busy with work. Good to see you back and agree sometimes we just need to take a break!! So, totally can understand and relate, too.

    1. Janine - The last week of the month is a killer in my business, so my time was so limited, and I was so exhausted when I finally got home, I looked at the computer and my recliner, and the recliner won out. Unfortunately, my wife has gotten into the habit of letting me sleep there all night, or at least until 4 or 5 in the morning, when I awaken, sore, and find my bed for an hour or two. Actually, she did the same thing last night. I'm beginning to think she'd rather have me sleeping than awake! lol Many Thanks!

  3. even though you took the week off, it would appear that the imaginary world of blogs and blog-writers seems to come with an awareness beyond what is directly accessible. (...bovine feces!!! just in case you haven't used that one yet!).
Serially, your reflection perspective is not only cogent (at least to my clarklike worldview), but is of practical value to those of us who inhabit this very...very strange place.

For me, you imaginary people enhance my reality (as opposed to diminish my experience of the traditional real world).
You might as well ask, would not the most genuine person be the one who lives totally alone, never interacting with another, purely in and of the immediate here and now?

I really enjoy the thought stream you have started with this here Post here, Rich. I suspect that your perspective (much a mine) is a result of our age as it is our capabilities. And that is in no way intended to be a slight, a sarcasm or joke.
Think about your grand parents, if they lived long enough to get to the age of movies and telephones, I would bet they would have a conversation very similar to the one you are starting here.

...and god knows what they would have done with 'the FaceBook'

    1. Clark, Good to see you, my friend! No, "bovine feces" is one that I hadn't heard. Actually, having been raised in beef country, that wasn't an expression that was heard until adulthood (I know, limited childhood.)
This was a completely serious blog to start, as you have well guessed. Yet, I have a reputation to maintain, so sarcasm and humor war added in phase two of the project. (Saying over and over to myself, "I must learn to blend better.")
As far as grandparents would be concerned, I'm afraid mine had enough difficulty with my long hair and music selections (not to mention rumors of ... shhhh .... drug usage) that Facebook would have been a complete shock. Still, perhaps they would have flocked to it as a marketing tool for their antique shop. Naw, would never have happened! lol Many thanks!

  4. Well, you DID say you were going back to work full time and really, after you've worked 60 hours a week, sometimes you just gotta unplug. I figured you were working or conked out on the couch, LOL.
You're right, though. I primarily want to do my artwork, photography and writing, and not spend so much time blogging it...not because I don't like it, but I sometimes feel like my laptop is the ball and I'm chained to it. So good for your for stepping out and reconnecting...I should do the same, Hehe. But then, but then...I'm motivated, in a sick way, by pageviews. How lame is that?

    1. Cyndi - This actually turned out to be an 85 hour week at work with travel time, lol. I was wiped, to say the least. I'd get home, eat while perusing a blog, and think to myself, "I'm really in no shape to comment. I'll save it for tomorrow night." I am king at procrastinating at times. I'd then sit in my recliner and pass out (see Janine's comment & response above for details, lol) I've also got myself in a position of having signed up for almost too many blogs, as my list of followers grows. Just keeping up with them is a full time job. So, I passed on this week. I couldn't even think straight enough to do the simple FTSF, and that's weak for me. As far as page views are concerned, I am as lame or not lamer than you. I look at actual comments as a gauge, though. If I'm not writing well enough for those that visit to comment, then I need to rethink my writing. I know there's other factors, but it's what I've always used, even when I wrote on HP's. Now, that's lame! lol Thanks for stopping by, CC. Much appreciated!

  5. No need to apologize here...I am amazed by anyone (including ya'll) that can find the time to blog and hold down a job, be it part-time, full-time, whatever time. I am attempting to make blogging and writing my full-time gig, and I still can barely produce 3 posts a week. I think taking a week off is healthy. We all need to re-charge or just focus on other things...I'm seriously considering a week break too. You see, you've inspired me!

    1. Emily - Last week was particularly rough, and I'm now looking at a two week straight stretch. Believe it or not, another corporation contacted me Friday evening and wants me to talk. That will be accomplished tomorrow, and will hopefully provide a little more sanity than the previous month has wrought. I personally have to compliment you as you always do a great job in your writings, yet, knowing your life is hectic. Take a week if you'd like! You have my permission! lol I hope it does you well!

  6. I think we all deserve a little time off now and then. I think it does us good! Anyway, many of your questions as to why we blog, particularly is what we are doing relevant to anything, are some that I struggle with quite regularly! At least once a week I decide that this is all a waste of time and I shouldn't bother. And then I get over it and write anyway. :)

    1. Amy - I'm still trying to figure out if it's a love, addiction, or obligation. lol I'm really like you in that respect. College basketball season afforded me an excuse to be somewhat lax, as it is the most enjoyable time of the year for me. So, I have to admit being somewhat lax as the March Madness concept is right on the horizon. Somewhere, I'll find time to read a few from my favorites and write a few ... just like you do! lol Many Thanks!

  7. Rich, if you weren't working full time I would have been worried, but I know how busy you are. I remember working full day at an office and barely finding time to write, can't be easy. Having said that, I'm glad to see you back. Certainly did miss seeing you and your posts around here - not the same without them/you. :) It's strange that you talk about this today, because I'm going through a few questions myself, and will be changing direction slightly in my writing. I'll still keep the blog, and there are days where I wonder if what I'm writing is really making an impact or doing something or if I'm just wasting time and talking to myself. Thanks for this, especially today - perfect timing. :)

    1. Melanie - It's good of you and others to understand my current plight. Writing was so much easier when I wasn't employed. lol At least I had time to write back then. You're only too kind with your words concerning me and my writing. I need millions like you! lol Then I could stop working again! : ) I sincerely believe that most of us constantly question what we're doing. Of course, there are those so self absorbed that they believe they're omnipotent and everyone else is wrong in not following them, but they're beyond understanding. Conscientious folks, like yourself, that exhibit the Type A personality in the desire to be as close to perfect as possible always seek a better way/direction/subject to communicate. It's just something we have within that keeps the drive going, and the satisfaction at a level that doesn't bloat the ego. I wish you good luck in your change, even though I've no problem at all with what you're currently doing! Many Thanks!

  8. Sometimes we just need to take a big step back. My blog definitely isn't profound or deep...mostly just crafty and thrifty. I steer clear of serious subjects. But it's what gives me fuel to continue. I hope you are feeling good and finding the right balance of depth and direction. I look forward to more from you. (Yeah, I'm not answering any questions!) :)

    1. Sherry - So good to see you again! This was one of those times you sit down and just start typing (rambling) and then see if it has any merit to be published or not. In other words, I've been so damn busy I haven't even had a chance to think about a decent topic. lol We all have to find our "niche" in creating the pictures we provide others. You have found yours and are comfortable. I might add, you do it well! I'm heavy into creativity, but have found the time to be so somewhat limited as of late. The "Gabriela Speaks" series on Monday, and the "FTSF" both allow for some creativity, but not nearly as much as I'd like. So, I've decided to break away, somewhat, and go back to my roots, or what I tend to do best. Humor/Sarcasm in creative pieces is my niche, sometimes with a hidden message. My creative horror/suspense pieces (In the Previously Published on Hubpages" page above were also a great amount of fun to do. I may have to create another blog page to do one of those a month or so. So many options, so little time. Good to have you along for the journey! Many Thanks!
