You'd think they'd understand they've been tagged as useless crap ... but it may be beyond their comprehension as they live in their fantasy worlds. I really did run that when I was younger. It was a daily part of my life. Then, I moved to Alabama, felt the humidity fill up my lungs, and got old and fat. Marriage had something to do with it, too. lol OMG, a look inside my brain ... how scary just to know there's one there to see! I've got to be more careful! Many Thanks!Richard Rumplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15478732756685966429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431865736422930321.post-11066821543761486622013-04-04T13:22:01.272-04:002013-04-04T13:22:01.272-04:00Clark - My apologies. I, too, remember standing on the floor hump in the back seat area and a door flying open as we went around a curve. I also remember my dad getting on me about it as I was the blame for not closing it completely. (Sometimes maybe falling our would be better, lol) Kids will have only memories of video game high scores these days, I'm afraid. Or, perhaps how they spent their lives at the mall. So sad. I'm pretty lazy that way and rely on my husband to just tell me if there's something major going on. With that said, one of the saddest things of all regarding politicians of my side and the wrong side is that I truly believe they start out wanting to make a difference, believing in their power to change things and then get sucked into the bureaucratic vortex of bullish@t that comes from lobbyists, their parties, slow moving congress, slow moving everybody, and then not much changes. It's too bad really. Because there are some things that need to change already. Sigh. Now I'm getting bummed out.

You ran five miles in the morning and the afternoon? Dude. I'm impressed. That's hardcore. And I'm jealous! And holy crap, a 13 year old in a car seat? Yikes. Now, of course, I wonder if I'm using my 3 year old's car seat correctly. Huh.

Love your ramblings! It's so awesome to follow your thoughts. It's like an insider's glimpse into your brain. So cool. The door closed itself 'cause my mother had the good sense to swerve the car in the opposite direction.*
now tell, how the hell are kids growing up today going to have the opportunity to have that kind of adventure? and not to mention the family bragging rights as the story gets told and re-told.

*What? no, we continued on to grandma's house, *of course*!Clark Farleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03606902779389446947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431865736422930321.post-22146309638919351922013-03-27T12:26:42.535-04:002013-03-27T12:26:42.535-04:00Kelly - Really good of you to visit! This eliminates any power the working man had to negotiate the rate of pay they would receive. In other words, the rich get richer and the poor have no avenue to better themselves. It's a sad state of being we now find ourselves in. Car seats are mandatory in the states for youngsters. These are mini seats that connect to the main seat of the car that imprison the youngsters from moving. They eliminate the need for the parents to exhibit common sense while driving and texting at the same time. lol Taxes are now over 40% on lottery winnings. The government is going to get more than they deserve any way they can. How else could they pay for such outrageous hotel bills as the vice president has incurred? What amazes me is that if you win that amount of money you pay high taxes, but, if you're a CEO and earn that amount, the IRS has tax shelters available so that your taxes are minimized! Just another case of the rich taking care of the rich. Sad ... but true! Car seats..what are those? Good grief. You must see how many stupid "parents" let their kids stand on the front seats while they're driving, or sit without seatbelts!!! What would I do with $338 million. Oh my goodness. For one person to win that amount of money?! I wonder how much tax is taken off there. Interesting post this morning Rich! The...Janine - So happy you stopped in, my friend! There is absolutely no accountability factor for politicians. There has to be a grading scale established. In addition, like any other job in the U.S., there has to be a way for the public to fire them, immediately, for inadequacies. Right now, they can get away with just about anything, because the only ones that can force them out of office are the other politicians doing the same things they are. It's a ridiculous situation. I'd almost like to have a panel made up of regular citizens assessing the performance levels of politicians, and getting rid of those that don't meet the standards they preach so highly. That's when the Beach Boys could start singing, "Wouldn't it be nice" again! lol Many Thanks!Richard Rumplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15478732756685966429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8431865736422930321.post-86070838749845515282013-03-26T13:33:06.923-04:002013-03-26T13:33:06.923-04:00Cyndi - Ah, my rambling counterpart, how are you ...Cyndi - Ah, my rambling counterpart, how are you doing? I think most politicians have gotten themselves caught up in the Wizard of Oz complex ... thinking they're something they're not. Actually, if most were forced to be graded for accountability, I'm afraid none would pass the test. It's such a sad state that democracy has fallen to be such a play toy of the rich. I remember when the floorboard of a car used to have a center hump (before front wheel drive cars). As a child, I stood on that back seat hump most of the time as my parents drove different places. The thought of a car seat then would have been ridiculous. However, our Land Of Lawyers have created such needs for laws from the stupid lawsuits over the years. Instead of car seats, those that cause the accidents from phoning, texting, and such while driving need to be kicked in the seat! lol "Person who drive with head up ass cannot see stop light!" Glad you enjoyed! LOL
Let's see...politicians are all bought out and represent the 1% and I don't care if they are teaparty, republican, democrat, libertarian, green, blue, pink, purple, and insert whatever else here party.
But then, all good revolutions degenerate into governments.
Though things are very askew at the moment.
Um...and the car seat thing. Oh my god, I don't have kids, but I think somebody with a lot of money hyperfocused on child safety and managed to "buy" the laws that would put such ridiculous overprotections in place. Seriously? It's a wonder I made it to my 33 years HAVING NEVER been in a car seat. I get that they help; so do helmets.
But that's like saying someone with a lot of money "bought" a law that would make everyone wear body armor every time they rode a bike or motorcycle.
Yes, we need car seats. But when your kid is bigger than you are (I teach elementary kids that are taller than I am) and they have to be in a car seat, something is VERY wrong.
Have a great day, Rich...and thanks for the laughs.
